Question:
In my right back upper teeth I had an root canal, a tooth pulled (due to a previous root canal that went bad) and another deep cavity filled. My dentist put a bridge over all three of them.
About two months later I developed a hoarse cough, a constant irritation on that side of my throat. I feel like I have the flu. My doctor says I am "run down" because my white blood cell count is low. I have seen my dentist who says my gums are inflamed and I need to floss more (I do floss). He took a picture of the root and it looks okay.
I can feel a sight raised line (not one of the normal ridges) on the roof of my mouth that leads to the back that he says is just normal tissue. I have insomnia, suseptibility to hot and cold, lack of appetite and feel like I am slowly being poisoned. Even though my dentist says to the contrary, could I have an inflection that does not cause much pain but a whole lot of other symptoms? ...Jennifer in CA
Answer:
Jennifer, You could! I am concerned of any teeth that have crowns or deep fillings without root canals. Any tooth with a crown or deep filling has a high chance of having subclinical infection, which may not show itself for a
while.
I am also concerned about your white blood cell count. If you have a flu or infection it should be elevated, not low. Have your physician do another blood work-up and physical. Check out your sleep patterns and make sure you are getting 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night.
Snoring, or a large tongue, may prevent you from sleeping properly. If so, go to a sleep clinic for help. In regards to your teeth, you need your dentist to do more investigation. Something doesn't sound right to me!
