Anatomy of Bad Breath
Xerostomia - Dry Mouth FAQ
Halitosis Doctors
Question:
I have bad breath. The reason I am so confused is because brushing tends to aggravate the issue.
When I wake up in the morning, I brush, the halitosis is not that bad, about 20%. as the day goes by it gets worse and worse. The norm is to brush again, but then brushing makes it worse, it's like the paste gives the halitosis a medium to spread.
At that point, I don't even need to open my mouth for it to smell bad, all it takes is an exhale and guys start to run away from me. I have spent a lot just to get rid of it, but to no avail.
One more thing, when I go to the dentist for a deep cleaning, I do have good breath for at least two days before it all comes crashing down. I have deep gum pockets. ...Visitor from TX
Answer:
Bad breath can come from many sources, but it sounds like yours is likely caused by bacteria in your mouth. Bacteria can hide in a little space between the teeth and the gums (pockets).
Treaatment with a PerioLase laser is very effective for shrinking the size of the pockets around the teeth, eradicating the bacteria, and allowing the gums to become more healthy.
