Question:
Bad odor and taste: Usually when someone has bad breath, they themselves cannot tell.
However for this past year I've been experiencing bad breath to the point where I can smell it when I yawn, cough, clear my throat and sometimes while eating.
I brush and floss at least 3 times a day and my dentist says my gums are in great shape with no disease. I'm begining to think it's coming from my sinuses with post nasal drip.
Also, I have been dating someone for this past year who has been diagnosed with some gum disease and has bad breath fairly regularly although its not horrible most of the time.
Is it possible that kissing can transfer bacteria from his mouth to mine? The problem only started since I've been with him. ...Visitor from OH
Answer:
Let's not blame Mr. Casanova totally and maybe not at all.
There is a transfer of bacteria in kissing. There could possibly be enough to change your oral flora. Is it the cause of your odors?... no.
There is not a "bad breath germ". Most all odors in a healthy mouth come from the coating on the tongue decomposing. Post nasal dip will increase the coating.
You and your boyfriend need a good tongue cleaner and a mouthwash with the active ingredient Chlorine Dioxide.
Your boyfriend needs to use a Waterpic with a little Chlorine Dioxide in it to flush the gum pockets.
You'll both have fresh breath.
