Question:
I'm 24 and I have generalized spacing in my front teeth, top and bottom. I want to close the spaces but, I'm not interested in bonding or porcelain veneers.
Is it possible to get braces or invisalign? Also, what could be the cause of me always biting my cheek even when I'm not chewing?...Visitor from NY
Answer:
I'm sure that braces would help a lot. I don't know if Invisalign will work. It's used mostly for crowding and not excess spacing like what you have. Talk to an orthodontist about this.
You may be biting your cheek because you've created ridges on the inside of your cheeks from clenching your teeth at night. Your dentist can look and see if you have these ridges and make you a mouthguard keep you from grinding and causing these ridges.
Also make sure you have any sharp edges on your teeth smoothed off in the area that you're biting yourself.
