Question:
I have an overbite. I had braces, but that didn't seem to work.
My question is: Would a jaw alignment be the answer to correct my overbite? My overbite is D/T/ protrusion of my lower half teeth. ...Visitor from VA
Answer:
Your braces "didn't work" due to the inability of the orthodontist.
If by jaw alignment, you are refering to surgery, my initial reaction is NO. Proper techniques can allign your upper and lower teeth. Keep looking for a dentist who can make the braces work properly.
Unfortunately I have seen the work of too many incompetent orthodontists who use the excuse the braces can only do so much. In truth, done correctly, braces can align teeth properly unless there is some gross malformations of the jaws.
