Question:
Permanent Bridge Removal: I had a 3 tooth upper back left bridge installed permanently about 6 months ago in a prior state where I then lived.
On one of the teeth, the porcelain fell off the front and back, (it is fused to metal).
My question is, when my Dentist removes the bridge, will that damage the two teeth that it is cemented to? I'm concerned about getting it removed - fear you know! ...Visitor from NC
Answer:
I understand your concern about causing damage to the adjacent teeth. Have you considered having a dental implant placed to restore the missing tooth? In this case the bridge could be carefully sectioned and the crowns would remain cemented on.
There is a study which shows that the third time a tooth is worked on, the nerve suffers irreversible damage. This can result in the need for a root canal.
In the event that there is a problem with one of the teeth that the bridge is anchored on, the whole bridge has to be redone...again.
