Question:
Temporary Bridge Pain: I am on my third bridge (same teeth) in 6 years.
This last one has been problems from the beginning. The permanent bridge was placed and cracked in two within the first 48 hours. I was eating a cracker at the time. The dentist has since removed, put a hook(?) in one tooth, and a new impression has been made.
The temporary was placed 3 days ago and I am in quite a bit of discomfort. The dentist said both teeth have had root canals and did the hook placement without anesthesia. Could this be the reason for the discomfort or is there likely another cause? ...Visitor from TX
Answer:
I'm sorry to hear of your problems with the bridge. I would probably seek a second opinion just to see if a fresh look would help.
I don't understand what a "hook" is, but think the reason you cracked the last bridge and are uncomfortable with the temporary could be that your bite is overclosed and there isn't quite enough room for the teeth to be replaced.
I can't see your situation so this is just a guess. If I am correct about your bite however, there is a way to restore this.
If you need help in getting a referral for a good second opinion, I can recommend a dentist in the Houston area.
