Question:
Abcess under my bridge: My front teeth are bridged.
I have an abcess on one of my front teeth and my dentist says I need to remove my bridge so they can perform root canal.
What if the teeth are weak and they're not good for replacement of crowns? Do they need to be extracted? ...Visitor from Calgary Canada
Answer:
If your teeth supporting your bridge are sound, there is no reason a dentist needs to take off the bridge to treat an abcessed tooth.
An opening can be made in the back of the crown to access the infected nerve tissue.
I would recomend that you make an appointment with an Endodontist (root canal specialist) to get a second opinion before letting anyone take out your bridgework.
