Question:
I have a fixed upper implant protheses and I am having a very difficult time with speech and comfort.
I have six implants from canine to canine. When I bite, talk, or just close my mouth, my lower teeth rest on porcelain.
I feel it is very bulky and my dentist just tells me to deal with it. Is it normal to close on porcelain? My canines are about the same width as my premolars. ...Visitor from NJ
Answer:
You should be comfortable.
It should be OK for the bite to close on porcelain, but it sounds like your teeth are too bulky.
I'd suggest a consultation from a few dentists to see what they think. Then, you might present these findings to your dentist and see where to go.
