FAQ:  Buck Teeth

Question:
Protruding Top Teeth: I am 55 years old and have been embarassed my whole life to smile.

My teeth protrude somewhat and with some additional problems such as missing teeth. It is causing the remaining teeth to start to move.

I don't want orthodontics. Can veneers fix any of this? ...Visitor from NJ

Answer:
While orthodontic treatment in conjunction with other treatments may be the optimal treatment for your situation, many adults choose not to have braces and there are typically alternatives.

Replacing missing teeth, dealing with shifting teeth and changing bites, repositioning teeth and improving one's smile dramatically are all changes that can be achieved for adults in a relatively short course of treatment (think "extreme makeover").

Each situation is unique and requires study of the bite, periodontal (gum health) assessment and esthetics.
