FAQ:  Buck Teeth

Question:
Braces and Buckteeth: I have had braces for over 5 years to correct an overbite. My orthodontist said it was about time my braces were removed, but the funny thing is, my overbite isn't corrected. ...Visitor from CA

Answer:
Braces Dissatisfaction
Sometimes during the course of treatment the dentist may realize that the best results cannot be obtained with the present treatment methods.

The dentist may not know of other treatment possibilities and can only deliver within their professional skills. The dentist is giving his or her best effort but the results are not to your expectations.

A discussion with the treating dentist is first. Express your feelings and expectations without judgment or criticism. Give the dentist an opportunity to explain.

If you are not satisfied or if you just want more information then consider a second opinion by an orthodontist or perhaps by a bite reconstruction dentist.

Porcelain reconstruction dentistry can achieve results that may not be possible with braces.
