Video: Acid Erosion Treatment
GERD FAQ
Question:
Anorexia - Bulimic: I am 44 years old, and I have been anorexic and bulmic - non stop for the past 5 years, (it all began when I was a teenager).
The enamel on the bottom of my front teeth is now clear and chipping. Though I still have a problem with throwing up, I need to do something about my teeth before they become more of a problem.
Would veneers work for me, or would my eating disorder ruin them as well? I have and am continuing to make every effort to stop vomiting, but I still need to do something about my teeth. ...Visitor from FL
Answer:
Unless you get your eating disorder under control, no dental work, crowns, veneers, etc., will hold up.
You could have an expensive cosmetic, beautiful makeover completed, only to have your teeth under the crowns decay and get eaten away by the stomach acids washing over your teeth when you purge.
Please do yourself a favor and get into an eating disorder program if you haven't tried this route before. These are folks who know how and want to help you get this problem under control.
Once you overcome this disorder, a good cosmetic dentist can help you achieve the esthetic restorations you want than can last for years and years.
