FAQ:  Canker Sore (Apthous Ulcer)

Question:
I recently just noticed in the back of my mouth a big white spot on my gums. I have no kind of idea what it is and where it came from. I just went to the dentist and had a mouth and tooth cleaning three weeks ago.

I am very worried and I can't make it to the dentist in the next week. Does anyone have an idea of what this thing is in my mouth? Thanks so much!!! ...Visitor from GA

Answer:
It could be a thousand things. If it's sore, it may simply be an apthous ulcer (canker sore). If it doesn't hurt, it could even be something as bad as cancer. See an oral surgeon!
