FAQ:  Craniomandibular Issues

Question:
To keep this simple, I am trying to find out who I can go to for the problems I am having. First of all, I have Crouzon Syndrome -- craniofacial problems since birth.

It's a long story but my situation is that my jaw grew out again for the third time in other words, my lower jaw grew side ways a little maybe dislocated. Also, I need a lot of dental work done. Some of my teeth are missing and rotting away. I think I will need dentures if that is the case.

My question is that do I need to have jaw surgery first and then dental work done? ...Pamela

Answer:
I would advise you to see a craniomandibular expert team at a hospital that specializes in these type of problems. Check with an oral surgeon in your area for recommendations.

You have advanced problems that need special care in a hospital setting. Be prepared to travel to a university type hospital.
