Dental Phobia Search: Alternatives to medical management of dental anxiety and phobias
Question:
Low Blood Pressure: I have extreme dental phobia and am planning to have several cavities filled under sleep dentristry.
I have low blood pressure and my heart rate is usually 90-110 beats per minute. I am 22 and healthy as far as I know.
Will my lower blood pressure be a problem when getting Oral Concious Sedation or any type of sleep dentistry? ...Visitor from PA
Answer:
Since you are 22 and in good health, as far as you know, your low blood pressure will probably not be a problem.
In our practice we always do a consultation for every Oral and IV Sedation case, with our patient’s MD before any treatment is started. That way any potential problems or drug interactions can be reviewed with the patient’s medical doctor.
I would recommend discussing your low blood pressure concerns with your sedation dentist.
