Temporary dentures: After 22 extractions temporary dentures were inserted.

I couldn't get the top ones out until four days later and there are big holes in my gums now. Is this normal? ...Visitor from KS

Answer:
The "holes" are probably the extraction sites.

Over time, your extraction sites will eventually fill in with bone and corresponding amounts of gum tissue.

Many patients, with medical histories and medication programs that are known to interfere (slow down) the healing process often elect to have socket grafts performed on each extraction site.
