Question:
Dentures and Bone Loss: I am 46 years old. I have had upper dentures since I was 12 and lower since I was 15.
My problem is my lower gum seems to have gone away. Is there anything that can be done to help this? My lower dentures don't fit right and when I bite down it hurts my jaws and the back part of my lower mouth. .... Visitor from GA
Answer:
First, see a dentist... second, see a dentist now.
Poor fitting dentures are contributing to bone loss. The only way to stop bone loss is to put something in the bone like implants, mini-implants with or without bone grafting.
Your dentist will make you new dentures and then when you are pain free he or she will discuss what can be done to stop this bone deterioration. Best of luck
