Question:
Upper Denture Problem: My upper denture causes me to have a whistling sound when I say words like "church".
Also I have difficulty eating because it seems the front part of the palate where the front teeth are is too low.
Is my denture too thick or too big for my mouth? ... Visitor from NY
Answer:
The siblient (s) sounds are generated by the tip of the tongue against the front of the palate.
If there is even the slightest discrepancy... problems with diction, like those you described, are common.
Try to return to the dentist who fabricated the denture and see if the problem can be corrected
by adjusting the denture. In some cases the denture may need to be remade. Good Luck!
