Question:
Can you make my dentures non-removable? I had my teeth pulled six months ago and had immediate dentures made to replace them.
I'm having a problem with the dentures. They are too loose.
The dentist relined them but when I put the dentures in they make me look like I have snuff in my mouth. The dentist told me that I need to see a oral surgeon to get an alevoplasty on my upper and lower arches.
So would dental implants help or is that more expensive? ...Visitor from KY
Answer:
If you have excess jaw bone tissue around the sides of your jaws, implants alone will not solve your problem.
Dental implants will help keep your lower denture in and help prevent the bone from wearing away from the pressure of the denture pressing on your lower jawbone.
An oral surgeon would probably be the best one to evaluate your jaws to see if a "smoothing" procedure could be done to get rid of the "snuff" look from having the dentures bulge out.
