Question:
Dentures cause headaches: I have had all my teeth pulled four weeks ago and an upper denture was put in the same day. I have been going back and forth to the dentist every week for adjustments.

I am having bad headaches ever since I received the dentures. The dentist tells me I have to adjust.

How long will I have the headaches? I have them everyday, all day long...Visitor from GA

Answer:
Getting used to your first set of dentures after extractions is the most frustrating process sometimes. However, when there is no saving of teeth, they must go.

Depending on the fit of the denture, a lot of the problems can be avoided with adjustments of high spots that cause sore areas. Talk to your dentist about the possibility of your bite being off.

In about three months, you should be ready for a reline that should cure most of your problems. If the immediate denture set up of teeth is not to your liking then have a new set made.
