Question:
MY dentures: About 4 months ago I had all my teeth pulled out and dentures put in.
They are way too big for my mouth and the top plate doesn't line up with my bottom plate. I can not eat anything with them in.
The dentist I went to charged me $3,300 and the only thing he said to me on my last visit is "they are what they are." I don't know who to call or talk to.
I want so bad to be able to wear them all the time. But I don't know who to talk to about the problem. I am so hoping that you can help me some how. ...Visitor from FL
Answer:
I have no way of evaluating your dentures without seeing you and the fit.
I would suggest a second opinion or maybe a few opinions. If the dentures really don't fit well, you may need to have them relined.
After extractions, the bone will remould and shrink some, so this may be the cause of your problems. A reline would fit the inside of the dentures to your present bone structure.
If the dentists you see say that the size of the dentures is a problem, you may want to contact your local dental association to see if there is a peer review committee where dentists try to solve conflicts between patients and dentists.
The dentist who made the dentures does not seem to want to make the situation right for you, or may have done the best he can already. When we are paid for denture work in my practice, they fit well or I remake them.
You may need to pay more, but hope that you can be more comfortable. I would suggest looking for somebody on the internet who likes making dentures and is proud of his product.
