Dry Socket: Symptoms - Relief
Question:
I went to the dentist to get my lower wisdom tooth taken out on Sunday.
It is now Friday and I still have pain on my jaw bone. The swelling went
away but I was told that I had to form a blood clot in the hole.
I looked in the mirror and I just have a huge hole with no blood clot. I can also see a little bone on the inside side of the hole and on the bottom of the hole (I feel pain). Is this a dry socket? If I leave it alone (or what can I do?), will my gum fill in the hole?
Will the hole Stay there always? How long will it take for me to be able to eat Meats and hamburgers with out getting food in the hole?
Answer:
I believe you do have a dry socket. I would see your dentist and he can
further evaluate the problem. My advice would have been earlier in the week
to see the dentist when you were still having trouble.
The area most likely will fill in some with new bone and you will be fine. But for now you need to see your dentist.
