Dry Socket: Symptoms - Relief

Question:
After a month my son is still in excruciating pain from a dry socket. The oral surgeon has continued to pack the extration site but my son is not getting any better and is once again experiencing facial swelling.

What else can be done? .... Visitor from CA

Answer:
A dry socket or condensing osteitis as it is also called is a fairly common post surgical problem. Sometimes managing the situation is difficult. It sounds like your oral surgeon, who sees this problem frequently, is doing the very best he or she can.

I would continue to inform the oral surgeon's office of your son's lack of resolution and ask for continuing care and whatever they consider the next level of relief might entail.
