Answer:
A palatal expander normally does not create discomfort, but as the appliance is turned you will experience some pressure.
What does it do? The use of an expander is an effective way to widen the upper jaw bone.
We as orthodontists usually recommend this type of treatment in conditions where the upper jaw bone
is more narrow than the lower jaw bone. The expander will very rapidly improve your bite.
Will it affect how you talk? Yes, for a short period of time and then you will adapt. It may, however affect your singing next week.
