Question:
Can I get implants without bone grafts? I am a 41 year old female in braces.
My orthodontist had 2 upper premolars and 1 lower extracted. I was wondering if this can have any negative impact on my face?
I had them done last month and my face thinned out within weeks. I don't like it and I am angry with the orthodontist. I only had a moderate overbite and crowding to start with. ....Visitor from IL
Answer:
As long as the orthodontist leaves adequate space to replace the extracted teeth with implants, there would probably be no need for bone grafts.
Excellent orthodontic results are achievable without removing healthy permanent teeth to "make room" in crowded dentition. The look you object to will get worse as the orthodontist closes the spaces he/she created.
