Question:
Can the extraction of an upper molar (wisdom tooth) potentially affect my eyesight? ...Visitor from India
Answer:
It shouldn't, unless there is a breach of the sinus cavity floor which can increase risk of sinus infections that might affect the eye.
If you suspect a vision or sinus infection issue that is closely related to dental treatment (on the basis of time) on your teeth in the upper arch (root canals, extractions, deep fillings, etc) then getting a cone beam catscan can generate diagnostic information that isn't possible with routine dental xrays.
Treatment for a breach of the sinus cavity floor involves what is known as a Sinus Lift. This is a procedure where the sinus membrane is "lifted" while bone graft material is added to the boney floor of the sinus cavity... usually at or near the treated tooth site.
