Extractions without Bone Loss

Question:
Hi, I had a filling to be done and my dentist said I needed a root canal so we were at the root removal and most of the top of my tooth fell off (crown) so she said she needed to extract the tooth.

Well only the other part of the crown came off now all the roots and stuff are still there. If I left them what are the pros and cons of that decision? I don't want to have them removed. ...Janice in Ontario, Canada

Answer:
Janice, I wish I could answer your question but I really don't understand your situation from what you are describing. If your dentist told you that the roots are not salvageable because there is decay, he/she may be right. Get a second opinion before you remove it.
