Question:
Pressure in my face, behind my eyes, and headaches: I recently got braces about 4 months ago and a month later I had to see my chiropractor for a headache that I had for 4 days straight.
Since then I have been on 2 antibiotics for sinus infections, and I feel like another is coming on. I am starting to wonder if getting these braces is causing all my pain?
Is it possible that an infection could be getting in throught my gums as my teeth are expanding, and causing sinus infections? ...Visitor from CA
Answer:
It is possible that the movement of your teeth is contributing to your headaches. Your bite is changing
as your teeth are moving and sometimes headaches are a problem in the initial weeks.
Most of the time the headaches resolve as your body adapts.
Generally, sinus infections are not a result of getting braces on your teeth. It is most likely
coincidental that the sinus infection occurred the same time as the braces.
It is possible that your mouth has an abcessed upper tooth and is infecting the sinus but it would be rare. A complete differential examination is necessary.
