  • Back last year in November 2010 my bottom gums just on one side between 2 teeth were red and swollen. They bled but stopped. I went to my dentist and they said it was just from brushing. It never went away they are still red and swollen although have not bled since. The dentist did Xrays and gave me a medicated mouthwash and still no improvement. I went to a Perodontist and by then my top gums were getting inflamed and bleeding. But eventually it went away. Now just my upper gums on 2 spots on 1 side are still red and painful while the botttom gum has stayed red also. He didn't find anything wrong with my teeth or my gums. He said they were healthy with no plague. He said it could be hormonal or stress related? ...Visitor from CA     (answer)

  • I woke up this morning with a mouth full of blood. I have broken decayed teeth as well but this bleeding really scared me. I had a botched root canal some years ago which has had me fearful of going to the dentist, but its time to do something. I just don't know where to start. Can you help me? ...Visitor from GA     (answer)

  • Bleeding Gums During Dental Work: My dentist says I have healthy gums. She did a full mouth exam, xrays, cleaning, gum test and the gums were healthy. While having a filling she said the area was bleeding excessively and she had to stop for a while. She continued and finished the filling but she said she had never seen that much bleeding from cleaning out a cavity and filling it before. I had another filling the next week and she said the same thing. What would cause so much bleeding during the procedure? I don't take blood thinners. ...Visitor from TX     (answer)

  • Post-Debridement Symptom? I've been diagnosed with ANUG and just had full-mouth debridement - the right side was done two days ago and the left side was done yesterday. I have had bleeding around one of my lower rightside molars since the rightside debridement. I asked my dentist yesterday about it, and he kinda shrugged it off. Today it started bleeding again. The bleeding doesn't seem to stop. Trust me, I've tried all the tricks - salt water rinse, hydrogen peroxide, etc. What's going on here? Is it the infection still acting up (I'm on antibiotics)? Or is it some irritation from the debridement? ...Visitor from MO     (answer)

  • I have never had any dental problems before. But I think I contacted some dental disorder from a girl that I kissed. Since then my gums bleed continously. I do not think it is gingivitis since my gums look strong and they are not red. I have also noticed that I have chronic bad breath. I have gone to a dentist but all they say is that I am suffering from a vitamin C and A deficiency. But I think it might be bigger than that. The bleeding is worst when I am brushing and when I am sleeping. At any given time, when I spit even my saliva is somehow reddish because of the bleeding. Please, please help am desperate. ...Visitor from Ukraine     (answer)

  • Special Toothpaste and Gels for Gingivitis: I have recently had bleeding gums while being abroad. I used mouthwash, tooth paste and gum gel specific for Gingivitis. I thought they were getting better, but they got worse. I touch the gums with my finger and they start bleeding. My teeth feel sensitive and I feel like they are moving, but not loose. What do you think causes this? Do you think they could be infected and my teeth could fall out? The gums are swollen and red, and the inside of the gums feel irritable! ...Visitor from England United Kingdom UK     (answer)

  • Gums: My gums are blackish and bleeds when I brush.. Can yall tell me what's goin on? ...Visitor from TX     (answer)

  • Shifting teeth: I recently, within the last few months, noticed that when I brushed, my gums would often bleed. I have also noticed that the gums are almost "eroding" away on a few teeth. It has been roughly 8-12 months since I saw a dentist. I've never really had any problems with my teeth before. I brush regularly. However, my mouth is somewhat crowded. Is this the effect of my teeth moving around as I am getting older? I'm im 26 years of age. ...Visitor from Pensylvania     (answer)

  • Hereditary?: I'm 16 years old and for as long as I can remember, I've had bad gums. They bleed whenever I brush and I constantly get infections, mostly on my upper gums above my molars. I swish with hydrogen peroxide when I have this problem and use Listerine, as well as brush my gums vigorously. My father has the same gum problems, as well. Could this just be a hereditary thing that's not much to worry about? When I went to the dentist for this problem, they gave me an antibiotic and it did work. He said the infections might be caused by stress, and I am taking midterms now. How can I make it so my gums will stay healthy for good? ...Visitor from NY     (answer)
