Lower braces causing spaces in upper teeth? I am in my 40's. I just got metal braces on my bottom teeth just to straighten them. My top teeth and bite were fine. After just 3 weeks my bite is bad and I have a space on my top teeth. I assume my bite will be put back to normal in the next year, but I am not sure why I am getting a space on my top. Braces or retainer? I'm 33 years old female and have gaps between 4 of my upper front teeth. About 8 years ago, I enquired about braces and was told that my facial profile/structure does not allow for braces. I did not understand that but on the dentist's recommendation, I've had the gaps bonded. However, I'm thinking of having the gaps closed by either braces or retainer. Teeth pulled for braces! I am a 26 year old female who had braces during middle school. My orthodontist pulled 4 teeth (2 on top, 2 on bottom) because of overcrowding. However, my smile has never been the same since and I do not like it. It is not symmetrical and not as wide as it used to be.
