- Pain after Anchor Teeth Preparation:
I am having a permanent bridge put in but after my dentist ground down 4 of my permanent teeth (I have a temporary in now) I have been in severe pain. The pain started about 4 or 5 days after this though. The area he worked on feels very sensitive. He took a
look and blew air on the area to see how much sensitivity was there. Not much, but now I am in so much pain. Is this the cause of my pain or could I also have a sinus infection? I saw my ENT a couple of days ago and he started me on atibiotics just to be sure. ...Visitor from CA (answer)

- New Bridge Causes Jaw Clicking:
About 3 months ago I had a 3 tooth bridge inserted on the back lower right side. Approximately 14 days after the final bridge was cemented, the right side of my jaw started clicking but I don't have any pain. A second opinion suggested the bite does not meet and I experimented with thin carbon paper myself and can see not all teeth meet. I can also slide the paper out which proves there is a gap, however minute. My problem is that my dentist uses thicker carbon and insists the bite is OK. I am also convinced this is the cause of my jaw clicking and the bridge is too low but my dentist says it's a coincidence. ...Visitor from Victoria Australia (answer)
- New Bridge - No Contact: I have done a 4 unit bridge on the bottom left. But it does not have any contact on the upper teeth. Some space is there. I asked my dentist and she says that because they are fake teeth they may break. But I don't feel right that all my contact is just on the right side. What is right? ...Visitor from MD (answer)
- Bridge Pain - Unable to Chew: About 3 months ago I had two upper, a right and left side permanent bridges put in at the same time. The right side has a fake tooth attached to a cap on either side. This side hurts off and on. I chew on it and deal with the pain, but it has never been right. The left side is very bad. It has a fake tooth with one cap with the other side having a cantalever over the other side of the fake tooth. If I push on it with my tongue it hurts and I have never been able to chew on it. I have been back to the dentist three times to "adjust the bite" but I am really hurting. ...Visitor from WI (answer)
- Bridge - Uneven Contact: I have a 3 unit bridge on my lower jaw (covers my last three teeth). When I close my mouth my last tooth doesn't have full contact with the upper tooth. The bridge is not cemented permanently yet. The dentist says that if I want the problem corrected - they can put on an additional layer of enamel. I really don't know what to do. I don't want my bridge to be unstable or fracture in the future. So what is a proper contact between teeth? Should marks on the articulation paper be distributed evenly? Mine were very prominent on the first tooth (unit) of the bridge and hardly noticeable on my last tooth. ...Visitor from NJ (answer)
- Regret getting a Bridge: I foolishly got a bridge. I had two missing teeth, one missing on each side of my two front teeth. It wasn't due to tooth decay or an accident, they simply never grew in. The dentist who did the work suggested I get a bridge. I now feel that a bridge should not have been recommended. If I had discolored or rotten, crooked teeth, maybe, but there was nothing wrong with them. I don't think this dentist should have filed down perfectly good teeth. If you can't tell by now, I regret the procedure. Is there anything that I can do to restore my teeth. I foolishly had four perfectly good teeth filed away and covered, just to replace two missing teeth.

- Bridge versus Implants: My 2 front teeth were knocked out in 1984. I got a bridge put in
in 1986. The bridge was re-done in 1993. Currently the gum tissue where the 2 front teeth were has receded. I need to know if I should get implants or another bridge? Regardless, I have to get a bone density procedure. I want a lifetime cure. ...Visitor from CT (answer)
- Bridgework: I have a 7 unit bridge on the top front. I have the permanent bridge in with temporary cement, so I can see what I don't like before we permanently cement it in place. Since 4 front teeth were pulled I look like I have no upper front teeth... even with the bridge in place. My upper lip and mouth has sunk in and my upper lip droops at the corners. When I talk all you can see is my lower teeth. Can this bridge be built up at the top of my gums to help with this look? Or what else needs to be done? I do not like the look of no teeth when I talk. ...Visitor from SC (answer)
