GERD FAQ

  • Veneers for Bulimia? I am a 25 year old recovering bulemic. My teeth have definitely suffered as now they are smaller, yellower, and without enamel. I fear that without enamel they will jsut continue to deteriorate. I had been wanting to get procelain veneers, but then recently was told I was not a condidate since without enamel, procelain veneers cannot bond onto the teeth. Is that really true? I am devestated because having a nice smile again means the world to me. Even if I can't get porcelain veneers, what can I do? I would like to move on with my life, and fix my teeth, and need advice as to what procedures will work the best for me. Perhaps there are dentists who have experience working with buliemic patients? ...Visitor from CA     (answer)

  • Anorexia - Bulimic: I am 44 years old, and I have been anorexic and bulmic - non stop for the past 5 years, (it all began when I was a teenager). The enamel on the bottom of my front teeth is now clear and chipping. Though I still have a problem with throwing up, I need to do something about my teeth before they become more of a problem. Would veneers work for me, or would my eating disorder ruin them as well? I have and am continuing to make every effort to stop vomiting, but I still need to do something about my teeth. ...Visitor from FL     (answer)

  • Bulimia and Teeth Whitening: I am bulimic. My teeth are still in good condition, at least superficially, but I would like them to be whiter. Is it safe to use whitening strips? ...Visitor from MN     (answer)

  • How to minimize Bulimia damage? I've been dealing with bulimia on and off for about 5 years (I am 22 years old). For the last 6 months it's got much worse and I've been purging at least once a day. I am trying to stop but am pretty sure it's going to carry on for a while longer. Is there anything I can to minimize the damage to my teeth? Something straight after being sick, or as part of a daily routine? ...Visitor from London UK     (answer)
