- Crowns to fix a Crossbite My daughter needs several procedures including crowns on her
front top teeth. The dentist told me that my daughter has a crossbite on her left side. The dentist suggested making the crowns for her front top teeth slightly bigger to help the crossbite. The dentist said "It will look like she has too much tooth. She won't have a Hollywood smile, but it will be all right". But, that isn't all right with me. No matter what, I couldn't understand exactly what she meant and I am afraid of what my daughter will look like...for example, are her lips going to be sticking out or are her teeth going to be bucked? ...Visitor from PA (answer)
- Crossbite and TMJ I have had a TMJ problem since biting into apple about 4 months ago. For treating my crossbite my Orthodontist used a molded device to push back my teeth (worn on top front
teeth). I am still having problems and the pain is increasing. I am now beginning to bite my tongue on the right side ... where the problem started. My mouth is always dry. I have always had crossbite but never any real problems until the "apple incident." What can I do just to return my mouth to the position it was in before biting into apple? I did not have problems. Would previous panaramic xrays provide this "position?" ...Visitor from SC (answer)
- Crossbite and Bridges: I have two bridges and a crossbite that is starting to cause
some problems. Is it possible to have orthodontic work with permanent fixtures like bridges? If you have to remove them to have orthodonic work, is there something available to help with the cosmetic issues? ...Visitor from OH (answer)
- Crossbite Crown: I have a classic crossbite with my upper right side biting inside on my lower teeth. I recently had a crown placed on my first premolar which is impacting my speech somewhat due to my tongue getting caught on the inside or dragging along the bottom area of the crown. We have tried to make it smaller, shorter, and flatter on the inside but to no avail. Somehow I think it is the cusp that is not in the right spot to work with my tongue when I talk. Are there specialists who might know more about this area? Thank you very much, I have been trial and error with this for 7 months now and am desperate as I do a lot of public speaking. ...Visitor from NY (answer)
- SARPE Surgery with veneers instead of braces? Hello, I am 24 years old and I need to get the SARPE surgery to correct my crossbite and narrow upper jaw. I am wanting to fix this for cosmetic and medical reasons. I do not like my natural teeth and wanted to get veneers but venners will not correct my bite problems. Is it possible that I could get the SARPE sugery and then get veneers after the surgey instead of the typical braces? I do not want to have to get the surgery, then braces, and then veneers.

- Correct procedure for correcting crossbite: My daughter has had two orthodontic evaluations and the treatment recommended for her crossbite (caused by only 1 upper tooth) is different. One orthodontist wants to put both upper and lower braces on at the same time to correct the crossbite. The other orthodontist says to start with the upper braces and place a bite block applicance in the lower arch to open the bite and correct the crossbite then add lower braces after the crossbite is corrected. I don't know which procedure is the best for correcting the crossbite. Both orthodontists gave the same treatment time of 12-15 months. ..Visitor from TX (answer)
- Fixing Crossbite requires surgery with braces afterwards? I have had issues with my teeth since I was young. Growing up I had 3 different expanders, head gear, and countless braces to try to fix my underbite. My jaw ended up growing uneven and I now have a cross bite that is very noticable in my facial features. I went to see a surgeon to see what we could do. I was only 14 at the time and they said I would need to wait till I'm done growing around 17 or 18 to have the surgery done. I am now trying to look into the surgery and have my lower jaw reconstructed to fit back and line up with my top. My teeth are perfectly straight due to the orthodontic work I have had in the past. Do you think I would have to end up with braces after surgery? ..Visitor from MN (answer)
