FAQ:  Dental Cements

  • What cement would you recommend for a person who is highly sensitive to chemicals and has had a major adverse allergic reaction to dental cements in the past? ...Visitor from TN     (answer)

  • Crown Cements - Implants: I have three new implants (back upper left), one new crown, and one onlay that needs to be replaced. Ever since the implants were cemented in, I have had the worst taste in my mouth which alternates between medicinal and like an old attic. I'm so embarrassed to talk to anyone up close. Could it be the cement? If so, are there cements that could be used instead? I am desperate. ...Visitor from MN     (answer)

  • Temporary Cement: I have had a bridge and several crowns fitted. They are still fitted with temporary cement. The bridge has come loose several times and been refitted, but the crown on a front tooth fitted with temporary cement won't budge. The dentist cannot get it off and says to leave it until it becomes loose. The tooth has been fitted with temporary cement for about 6 months. How long does temporary cement last? The crown has to come off as the fit is not correct and a new crown has got to be made. ...Visitor from Birmingham, England, United Kingdom UK     (answer)

  • Dental Crown Cement: I've had 2 reactions to cements that had clove oil in them. I had burning in my mouth and throat and a burning, pins and needles sensation on my face and neck. The cement was Durelon and had to be removed. The TempGrip used worked fine. The last cement used was MaxCem and I'm having the same reaction. It is most uncomfortable. What do I do now? ...Visitor from SC     (answer)
