  • My dentist told me about a product that puts enamel back on teeth. I was teaching school when a 19 year old decided to hit me with his book bag. I lost three molars and now have a bridge. All the meds for injections were tetracycline. I lost enamel and my teeth became light yellow, a side effect of tetracycline. Do you know of a this product or a better product to put enamel back on teeth? I can't find it anywhere. ...Ed in TX     (answer)

  • Enamel Loss - Erosion: I seem to be be losing enamel on my two top front teeth. Also some of my teeth have ridges around the gum line which makes them sensitive when I brush. Is there a way to correct this? I have been using Crest Whitestrips... Is it safe to do so? ...Visitor from CA     (answer)

  • Transparent Teeth: Both of my front teeth are becoming increasingly transparent along the bottom. I can actually see through the entire bottom of one tooth and half of the bottom of the other other. The teeth seem to be slowly wearing away where they have become transparent as the tooth that is half normal (not transparent) is longer on that half then on the other half that is transparent and longer then the other fromt tooth which is transparent along the entire bottom. I'm only 31 yrs old and I'm not sure if this is normally something associated with old age. ...Visitor from NY     (answer)

  • Calcium Deposits: I have calcium deposits right in the middle of my two front teeth. What is the best way to get rid of them? ...Visitor from NY     (answer)

  • Dental Enamel Hypoplasia: I am currently being evaluated for celiac disease and the term dental-enamel hypoplasia came up. I am 32 years old. After the birth of my first child four years ago, I have had severe yellowing of my teeth along with vertical cracks in the enamel of my front teeth. Would this constitute dental-enamel hypoplasia? What kind of dentist should I seek to evaluate and repair the cracks? ...Visitor from IL     (answer)

  • Does mouth wash, used regularly, cause loss of enamel? ...Visitor from AZ     (answer)

  • White lines on upper part of teeth: I had white lines on the upper part of my teeth right below the gum that I thought was from a whitening product I'd used. New dentist said it was plague and had it scraped off which was very, very painful. Now there is a hole in one of the teeth he scraped and if I use any whitening products, I can not even begin to describe the pain I feel. I used a new whitening product, but the lines are back 2 weeks after he scraped the teeth. Help? ...Visitor from CA     (answer)

  • Effect of Purging on Enamel: I used to purge and my dentist was concerned of the enamel loss on the backside of my teeth. Most of my teeth are transparent and my dentist said it is the worst he has seen in 30 yrs. I do not purge anymore but I seem to still keep losing enamel for some other reason. I have been chewing nicorette gum for almost 8 months now. Could this be the reason why I continue to lose enamel? Does enamel ever regenerate itself over time? ...Visitor from OH     (answer)

  • Ameliogenesis Imperfecta I have ameliogenesis imperfecta and last year had 10 porcelain veneers put on my top teeth. They are a beautiful shape, but the colour is gross. The doctor said that the veneers are a window to the teeth....but if the teeth underneath are yellow then why accent that with the veneers? I am going back this month to get 4 top ones which cracked replaced and my bottom 6 teeth done, but I don't want them done unless they will be white. He says they used the whiteness everything ....but can't you bleach the teeth underneath first? I can't live with this colour, in the age of white teeth! What can I do? ...Visitor from Ontario Canada     (answer)

  • Preventing Further Enamel Loss My daughter has been struggling with bulimia for several years now and I am worried about her enamel loss. As she fights this disease, is there anything she can do to minimize the damage? ...Visitor from NY     (answer)
