  • How long does it take a person to get used to an upper immediate denture? I've had mine 7 weeks now and am still very uncomfortable. I've already had 2 soft relines and am due back week after next for another one. Also my dentist said he would do hard reline or perms at the 3 month time period. I feel this is a little soon. ... • Face Distorted After Immediate Denture: I lost my upper teeth about 11 weeks ago and had an immediate denture placed. My face has a bulge under my nose like a roll and I have a sunken ridge above my gum line with dimples where roots of canine teeth were. I look terrible. My cosmetic dentist says ..oh well...you lost some bone. I expected to look like me. What has happened and what can be done. She permanently relined them 2 weeks ago and I felt it was too soon. I miss my face. Any advice would be appreciated. She broke my crowns and bridges during replacement and I had to sacrifice all upper teeth as a result. I had hoped to look like myself again. I am very sad. ... Visitor from IN     (answer)

  • Immediate and Permanent Dentures: I am very confused about the difference. If the Immediate dentures are used, are they the same dentures that become the permanent denture after realignments and adjustments or does a new denture have to be bought? ... Visitor from PA     (answer)

  • Tooth Loss, Implants and Immediate Denture: I have maybe 4 permanent teeth left on top (and a bridge attached to two) and maybe 5 teeth left on bottom, all are loose. Can I still be fitted with dentures or implants if the dentist can not get an impression of the shape of my mouth? ... Visitor from CA     (answer)

  • Immediate Denture Creates Horse Looks: I had all my teeth extracted with the understanding that I would have new teeth the same day. Well, I did, but I looked like a horse! The dentist re-made the teeth moving the upper and lower teeth up higher to compensate for my "gummy smile." Now I can't see my top teeth but can see the whole bottom? Can this be corrected or have I gone to the wrong dentist? Now I look like a bulldog! Thanks for your advice... I need it! ... Visitor from OR     (answer)

  • Immediate Denture forces diet change: Since I began to wear immediate dentures a little over 2 years ago, I have found that my taste buds seem to have changed. There are some foods and drinks that have no flavor since arriving in Denture Town! Am I crazy? I haven't been able to find anything on the internet that substantiates this problem. ... • Two weeks ago I had all my teeth pulled and immediate Dentures put in. The top dentures fit my mouth but the teeth are way to far forward by at least a row of teeth. The teeth now rest on my bottom lip. You can see my holes from my pulled teeth placement in the soft lining of the denture and when you hold them up to the light you can see that the teeth in the denture are not over where my old teeth were and are at least a row forward. The bottoms are so bad I can't wear them at all. The bottom teeth of my dentures are even worse, they are about a row and half in front of where my old teeth were in my mouth. The bottoms are so far forward my lip will not close over them .. it just sticks out. ... Visitor from AZ     (answer)

  • New Immediate Denture: I had 11 upper teeth and one bottom tooth pulled and an upper immediate denture and a partial lower was placed. I had severe up all night crying pain and went back for a post op appointment 24 hours later. My problem is that I had my upper and lower partial adjustment done and the top felt okay. I am now getting cuts and sores on the upper inside of my mouth and sores on my cheek. I also cannot wear my lower partial due to pain and when I bite down it hurts so bad I want to cry. At first, the lower would pop up when I bit down but now they hurt and I can't stand the pain so I dont wear them more than an hour a day. What can I do and is this normal? ...
