- I am 16, going to be 17 in a few months, and I have two impacted incisors. And I have been told that I have to go see the orthodontist, for braces. I really don't think that braces are going to help, unless I have to have some surgery first. Please let me know what exactly would need to be done. And if I have to get braces, how long will I need to wear them? Visitor from PA

- Impacted Canines: On a Panorex the impacted canines of my 12 year old (dental age 2-4 years behind) have roots almost fully grown and with crowding are grazing the lateral incisor root. Looking at the angle, some have said they will straighten out perhaps IF room is available but it is not. One orthodontist says pull canines and another says use an expander. Each puts down the other strongly so I will go for a 3rd opinion. Meanwhile, my question is: if the canines intersect the root of the lateral incisor, is that instant damage or is there a chance to expose and pull down the canines still? How quickly does root resorption take? ...Visitor from PA
