  • Hole in gum: I had oral surgery 4 days ago and one of my front stitches came out. Right next to that I see a hole. Do I go back to the dentist before my appointment or do I wait? ...Visitor from California     (answer)

  • Oral Surgeon Referral:Why is an oral surgeon called in to extract teeth when all dentists in the past would do it themselves. They are simple extractions, nothing complicated. ...Visitor from New York     (answer)

  • Can I have oral surgery while I have pancreatitis? ...Visitor from California     (answer)

  • IV Sedation getting all my teeth out: In about a month I will be getting all 22 teeth removed and I will be in twilight sleep. I am currently having severe reflux and I have been told by my husband that I snore really loud and that I gasp some times at night. I do have a hard time sleeping. I have never been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea but I am a little worried about the Twilight Sleep IV Sedation. In the Summer of 2010 I had my gallbladder out and was put completely under with no complications out patient. So I was just wanting to know if you think I should worry about this or maybe I am just scared. Also I would love to know how I will feel the day after all these teeth are out. ...Visitor from SC     (answer)

  • Flippers after tooth extraction, bone graft, implant: I am having a tooth extraction, bone graft, and finally a dental implant. My problem is with the flipper. I have not had surgery yet. But my oral surgeon wanted me to get the flipper done and bring it in at the time of surgery so that he can adjust it. However, my dentist wants his assistant to do the flipper AFTER surgery. She (the dental assistant) would make the entire flipper in-house rather than sending it to a lab to be made. This they are doing at no charge to me. I almost feel like I would rather pay the cost of having the impression done before hand with the dentist and have the flipper done by a lab so that my oral surgeon can see it and adjust it. Which way is better? ...Visitor from VA     (answer)

  • Numb Lip and ChinI had surgery to remove a lump inside my lip. I wanted it taken out because it worried me. It was not cancerous. The surgery was performed about 5 months ago and my lip and part of my chin is completely numb. I keep biting my lip, this morning I made it bleed. Will this ever get better and what should I do about it? I called the Oral surgeon, and he wouldn't call me back. The nurse said there was nothing I could do about it. Is there anything that can be done to help this? Will I be numb forever now? I am 42 years old and the thought of my lip and chin being numb for the rest of my life really bothers me. ...Visitor from IN     (answer)
