- Numb Lip and ChinI had surgery to remove a lump inside my lip. I wanted it taken out because it worried me. It was not cancerous. The surgery was performed about 5 months ago and my lip and part of my chin is completely numb. I keep biting my lip, this morning I made it bleed. Will this ever get better and what should I do about it? I called the Oral surgeon, and he wouldn't call me back. The nurse said there was nothing I could do about it. Is there anything that can be done to help this? Will I be numb forever now? I am 42 years old and the thought of my lip and chin being numb for the rest of my life really bothers me. ...Visitor from IN (answer)
