- Painful foul smelling Molar gum tissue: For about 10 months now I have had gum pain with a foul discharge taste. The gum around my top back molar has been swollen and painful to the point that I cannot chew on that side. I have been given 5 different antiobiotics over the past 9 months, Doxacycline, Keflex, Amoxicillin and something that began with a "C" for 2 refills and now on 2nd refill of Augmentin with no change. My dentist keeps trying new antiobiotics but how long can I continue on antiobiotics with no change? What should my next course of action be? I am very frustrated. ...Visitor from PA (answer)
- Hard Mass on Gumline: I have had so much trouble with my bottom right side of my mouth for over a year. I am in horrible amounts of pain, to the point where I don't even sleep. I've gone through everything, wisdom teeth extraction, scalings, xray after xray. even neurologists. However, if I run my tongue or my finger along the inside gumline I can feel where a very hard mass is. It's about 2/4 inch long. It's not soft at all, it's as hard as bone. It just throbs like crazy and no one is giving me any answers. Do you have ANY idea what this could be? I tried showing the mass to my endodonist who just kind of shrugged and ignored me. I am so lost and in so much pain. ...Visitor from PA (answer)
- Pain in Gums: I went to Costa Rica for 2 fillings. The dentist could not even out my bite (it took about 3 weeks to even out on its own). Since then I have had pain in my gums around these 2 filled teeth. It has been about 2 and a half months since the procedure. Could this lead to serious problems? I asked the dentist this question, but she would not give me an answer. ...Visitor from MD (answer)
- Teeth Pain: I had my teeth cleaned and about 1.5 months later all my teeth started hurting. I called a new Dentist and told him what was going on and he thought I was grinding my teeth, so he took off some old bonding off my front 4 teeth (was done for cosmetics reasons years ago) and put on 4 Veneers. He fitted me with a HARD night guard, but the aching pain did not go away. At the same time my cheeks on both sides feel swollen and it's defficult to swallow from time to time. I feel like I have had the flu (no fever). I have been to an ENT, Oral Surgeon, Neurologist and an Endodontists for all this. The Oral Surgeon sent me to a Physical Theapist and he said I do not have TMJ. He thinks I have a micro bacterial infection. ...Visitor from TX (answer)
- Sore Gums: My gums slough off when the dentist examines or cleans my teeth. After each cleaning I experience severe gum pain. Epsom salt seldom helps. The dentist suggested rinsing with milk of magnesium, which worked initially. Now, several months later, my gums have become extremely painful after eating crunchy salad. Nothing seems to relieve the pain which is below the removable bridge line. I need something to heal the gums. I am a senior with a thyroid condition. Last year I was checked by a peridontist who found nothing wrong. ...Visitor from NY (answer)
- Pain in Mouth: For the last week I have had pain on the right side of my mouth. The pain is on the top and bottom teeth. Sometimes it will radiate to my head. The pain will come very intense for a couple minutes and then go away. This happens all day long. The pain is very intense. I went to the dentist and he did x-rays and said there is no abcess or cavities causing problems. He said the only thing it could be is extra tissue covering my molar on the bottom. Could that be? How can that cause such pain? He said I have to have the extra tissue removed or have the top and bottom molars removed. Should I see a different dentist or does he have the right answer? ...Visitor from NY (answer)
- Mouth and teeth pain: My dentist gave me a shot in the back of my mouth, a pain block, to fill a cavity. The shot was the most extreme pain I have ever felt and I tried to get her to STOP injecting me but she kept on. Since that day, three weeks ago, I have had continuous pain moving from the left top teeth/gums, to the bottom teeth/gums and in the back area where the shot was given (different areas). I am on high doses of ibuprofen round the clock, and have been back to the dentist for an exam. After x-rays, she found nothing and decided it might be sinuses. But I don't have sinus problems and can't figure out why it would come on only after I had the shot and cavity filled. What should be my next move? ...Visitor from VA (answer)
- Mouth and jawbone pain: I have had terrible pain in my right back half of my mouth for 1 month now. So bad that it is waking me up at night. I have been given amoxacillin and that didn't take the pain away. I have had my wisdom tooth extracted and now I am taking Clindamycin. I have been taking this for 48 hours now and no relief yet. The skin all around the extracted tooth is red and irritated and the bone in the way back on the right hurts to touch. The bone where my wisdom tooth was hurts as well. I am beginning to loose hope and sanity. .... Visitor from CO (answer)
