Bad reaction to Epenephrine: I recently had some teeth filled and was told by the dentist that the numbing agent he used contained epenephrine, because epenephrine constricts blood vessels. Why does vasoconstriction help a dental procedure? Are there numbing agents that do not contain epenephrine? I have a bad reaction to that ingredient. ...Visitor from CO (answer)
Sedation for Kids: I need some advice for my daughter who is 5 now, and having major difficulties to deal with dental work. Her pediatric dentist recommended to put a few caps for molars, fillings for other areas. But the problem is to get her to sit down on that chair. The doctor recommended that if she doesn't cooperate then I might have to go for sedation techniques. Oral Surgery - Anesthetics: I had my wisdom teeth pulled out four years ago, I was given nitrous and ketamine, and during the procedure I kept coming to and I heard the assistant say that my blood pressure was dangerously high. When I woke up, they told me to get it checked, I did since, and the doctor said everything's fine. My question is, if in the future I need oral surgery, what would be an alternative to using these drugs, and which was the drug or was it the combination that might have caused an adverse reaction? Sleep apea, Tachardia, Palpitations, irregular heart beats: Recently a piece of my tooth broke off. I went to the dentist yesterday and they discovered that since there was no pain that the tooth was probably dead. I will now have to have a root canal and a crown. I am 58 years old and have never had any kind of anesthesia or novacaine. I have never been put out and I am really terrified and feel panicked already. I have sleep apea, tachardia, palpitations, irregular heart beats. I also take metoprolol and protonix. I don't know what to do. The dentist told me if I don't have it done an abcess will form. Sedation for childrens teeth cleaning? I have 2 daughters, 2 and 3 years old, both of which need to have their teeth cleaned. Is it true that the dentist has to put them to sleep in order to clean their teeth? IV Sedation for Dental Implants: I am planning on having 4 dental inplants and my Dentist suggests IV Sedation. The procedure will take about 3 hours and I am concerned about being sedated for that long. I am 74 yrs. old, have high blood pressure and asthma.
