- Sticky Film (not Plaque) in mouth I brush my teeth at least twice a day. I do not drink soda, coffee or wine. I use Listerine a few times a week. About 5-10 minutes after I brush my teeth (no matter what kind of toothpaste I use), I get a sticky film around my lips and on the inside of my cheeks. I never used to get this. I've noticed it over the past 2 1/2 years. Could this be related to my newly diagnosed Type II Diabetes? I don't think it's Plaque because the only time I have it is right after I brush. And I always brush twice a day and have good oral hygeine. The sticky film goes away if I rub my lips and the inside of my mouth with a tissue and it stays away until after I brush my teeth again. ...Visitor from NJ (answer)
