FAQ:  Flippers

Flipper Alternative

Question:
I got a flipper a month ago. I wear it all the time, but I still talk like my mouth is stuffed with cotton.

Will that ever end or is this the way I will always talk? ... Visitor from AL

Answer:
Dental flippers are temporary solutions for replacing teeth while underlying tissues heal, in preparation for final tooth replacement treatment options.

We know of no dentists who recommend flippers as a final restorative service. Whether or not or for how long your speech remains affected is totally dependent upon your decision to obain the recommended, final, restorative treatment.

Many patients, who anticipate not arranging for the final restorative treatment for an extended time often elect to use a custom Flipper Alternative, that eliminates many of the negative features of a traditional flipper.
