Flipper Alternative
Question:
Flippers: When I was in 3rd grade I knocked out my permanent tooth.
I'm now 15 and they recently extracted my tooth and the veneer. I have a flipper and can't get an implant until I'm older. I was wondering if there are any types of flippers out there that can somehow clip onto my teeth better.
Also (this isn't as important as the last question) if there are any that don't cover as much of the roof of my mouth as it does. ... Visitor from NH
Answer:
Yes indeed there is another way to fill in the space with an alternate way other than the traditional flipper.
In my practice, I almost always have my patient's that are in future need of an implant use a clear
retainer similar to Invisalign with a fake tooth filled in the area of your missing tooth.
Patients like it because it doesn't cover the palate at all nor does it cause you too gag. Most importantly, it maintains the bone better in the area of the missing tooth, because it is resting on the teeth not the soft tissue of the ridge.
