Procedure Photo Outline: Frenectomies
Question:
The dentist told me that my daughter needs a frenectomy in her upper lip.
I am afraid that her smile would be different. I sense that when she smiles all of her gums will show.
So does it affect that? I am also worried that if we didn't do it will the gap in her teeth close when she gets her other teeth? ...Visitor from TN
Answer:
Contact a periodontist who does LOTS of frenectomies.
Laser surgery is ideal because it is fast, accurate, nearly painless and produces great results.
The periodontist, a soft tissue specialist, is the perfect person to ask about the different issues you are concerned with.
There is a video of a laser frenectomy on this website. Watch it... it is pretty amazing. The desired outcome is instantaneous
