Video: Laser Gummy Smile Treatment

Question:
I was born with big gums that stick out and cause my lips to stick out abnormally. Is there any process that could rectify my problem such as surgery. I would be extremely grateful for any information on this matter that you could provide me with. ...Visitor from CA

Answer:
If you have excess gum tissue, you can see a dentist to be evaluated for a minor surgery to trim the gum back and "re-contour" it into a more ideal shape.

Your dentist should be able to evaluate this for you to see if you are a candidate and then may request that you see a gum specialist (periodontist) to do the surgery for you. It is called a "gingivectomy" and can often be accomplished by using a laser.

That is how I do these in my office. There is more information about this on my website if you wish to do some research.
