Question:
I believe I have bone growing above my gum line and teeth pushing my gums outward. What causes this and what is the remedy? ...Visitor from FL
Answer:
First let me say it is difficult without a clinical exam to determine exactly what you are describing.
Your problem could be something as simple as periodontal disease. By that I mean, through neglect and lack of proper dental care heavy deposits of tartar/calculus could be accumulating creating a serious periodontal condition. The gum tissue would be receding, inflamed and bleed easily.
If this is not the case then there is the possibility that you could have some type of osteogenic tumor. Osteogenic meaning originating from the bone. In either case you should not be consulting via email but rather making an appointment to see a dentist for an evaluation.
