Gums Ask The Dentist Jeffrey Hoos Question:
I have a sore spot on my gum. It does not appear swollen or really bumpy. I just went to the dentist 5 days ago and had xrays and cleaning - everything was in good shape. Could I get an abcess that fast? is it can abcess? There is no odor or drainage. ...Jason

Answer:
Jason, it could be that the cleaning caused a bit of bacteria to go under the gum and become inflamed. The other is that just having the cleaning caused the gum to be sore. Warm salt water, 3 times per day.
