Question:
I have had a partial denture on my lower jaw in the last 6 years. Alternative long-term strategy could be a 6 member implant base with a click-in full denture (plastic vs. porcelain fixture that the dentist only can remove, upgrade and maintain with time).
I'm looking for a local dentist in my area who can examine and consult me 'free of charge' before I commit for replacing my
current partial with implants.
Answer:
I first want to let you know that you may be able to find a specialist in the Hayward area (prosthodontist) who will be able to assist you. If you have a regular dentist at this time, you could start there and ask for a referral.
Most offices that I am aware of have an examination fee and will need x-rays to properly diagnose your situation. For a dentist to properly inform a patient about implant dentistry, he or she will need x-rays and study models just to see if it is even possible.
I know one thing, if you are seen by someone who takes a quick "look" for free and then tells you what you need, you should probably go somewhere else.
Excellent implant dentistry is all about the planning and using proper specialists in a team effort. Check out the CDA home page for a local prosthodontist in your area if you don't have a general dentist.
