Odor - Recession after placement: I had an implant and crown placed on #8 front tooth about 8 months ago.
I have suffered pain, inflammation and significant gum recession, mouth odor since. The abutment has been narrowed 2 times already which has helped some.
My dentist recommends a bridge which I find unacceptable. ... Visitor from NH
Answer:
Odors come from bacteria which produce sulfa compounds.
I have found that using a laser to trim and contour gum tissue prior to placing the abutment and or crown on implants have worked very well.
Sometimes the lab makes the abutment and crown to a perfect shape but the gum tissue is not and has to be contoured prior to screwing the abutment or crown in.
