FAQ:  Loose Teeth

Loose Teeth Dentistry
Dental Bonding to Fix Loose Teeth?

Question:
I had a tooth pulled on the bottom side near my molar. It was a baby tooth that never fell and was just seated in my gums and started to come out recently.

Well, I got it pulled, the dentist said everything looked like it healed up fine for my checkup. My concern now is that the adjacent molar is now loose.

Why? Will it take some time for my gums to adjust? I would hate to lose a healthy molar. ... Visitor from LA

Answer:
Your best resource for getting the most accurate guess.... would be the dentist who extracted the baby tooth.

If he/she is unsure, then it would be very worthwhile to consult with a Periodontist to determine the precise cause.

There could be issues related to root size, root health, connective tissue abnormalities or possible bone tissue conditions. An unusual occlusal event could also cause the molar to become loose.

It would be difficult to predict if the tooth will tighten up on its own without knowing how and why it is loosening.
